California Creative Learning Academy is a charter elementary school that provides an alternative education with art-focused curriculum. office42 was brought on to provide pro-bono master planning and landscape design services. The classrooms are portables set behind an existing church on the back end of a massive parking lot. Our design unifies the parts of the campus by focusing on creating a playful circulation spine through the other church buildings on the site. At one end is the drop-off area and playground, while on the other end is the gardening area and outdoor classrooms. Though the budget for the campus was minimal, it was enhanced with a great deal of parent involvement.
